Auburn~ Road Trip

This past weekend, Richard, Addie and I decided to spend a Saturday on the plains in Auburn, Alabama. We haven't been down there in a while and decided the nice, warm weather would be a fun change to take advantage of walking the campus and getting some classic college food.

Our first stop was in front of the Samford Lawn, a classic shot of Auburn, where I hoped to get a nice picture of the three of us, but the sun was unpleasantly facing us.

Afterwards, we walked to J&M  and Anders book store to get a few t-shirts and Richard's AU hitch.

{Even though Auburn didn't win the BCS National Championship,
I still thought this shirt was too funny not to share}

After shopping and walking around, we couldn't pass up an opportunity to sit outside and and enjoy some Mamma Goldberg's. This is where I devoured a turkey delight and the classic mama nachos with jalapenos,.

With full stomach's, we walked the campus, saw Cam Newton's statue for winning the Heisman trophy, and walked into some new stores.

 which Richard had to buy at least one thing}

{They had candles that smelled just like Toomer's lemonade, yum!}

Towards the end of the day, which was very hot, Richard and I made our final stop at Toomer's Drugs, which has the best limeade and lemonade drinks! All three of us enjoyed our day down in Auburn. Hopefully, we will make it back down very soon ;)

Happy V-Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. I know like many of us, we were just excited to get out of the house after being iced in for over three days. However, this year like last year, we kept it simple and had a delicious dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We usually prefer a casual setting and delicious margaritas over a set menu. After dinner we came back and I made my mom's Monkey Bread recipe but in a heart version.

See recipe below:

{Heart Bundt Cake}

- 2 rolls Pillsbury Biscuit Grands
-3/4 tsp cinnamon
-3/4 cup granulated sugar

1. Cut biscuits into bit size pieces
2. Roll each piece in sugar/ cinnamon mixture
3. Sprinkle a few chopped nuts in the bottom of the pan
4. Place each piece into a greased bundt pan
5. Sprinkle a few chopped nuts in between layers.

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

1. Combine sugars, water, and melted butter

2. Pour over top of biscuits in bundt pan & sprinkle remaining nuts on top

3. Bake a 350 degress for 1/2 hour

{ 4. Enjoy it!}

Day 8- London, England

Thursday, January 2, 2014 {Last Day in Europe}

Today was the first day that it didn't rain while we were in London. The sky was clear and we were headed to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards. We waited for an hour and half so we could have an excellent view of the soldiers and band members as they paraded into Buckingham Palace for the actual changing of the guards within the Buckingham Palace.  It was a grand ceremony! The crowds were a little crazy, but it was a great experience.

After the ceremony, we walked through another park, which had the Princess Diana Memorial Trial, and is located on the backside of the Royal Horse Guard building, then we decided to head back to the hotel where we had a traditional English Tea and along with a cheese tray for lunch. The assortment included Blue Cheese, Brie, and English Cheddar,which was accompanied with celery, chutney, grapes, and different sorts of crackers.

After our delicious lunch, we got dressed for an early dinner at Browns at Covent Garden, which first opened in 1973. They have a wonderful pre-theater menu, which included the most exquisite mixed drink called the Rivoting Rasberry, which included Champagne, Absolut Raspberri, and Chambord.  After dinner we walked to the theater district and went to the Queen's Theater that first opened in 1907 so that we could watch Les Mis.  I had never seen the movie and did not know what to expect; however, this play took my breath away. The strength of their voices and emotional pull of the scenes were beautiful. We all had the best time!
