Athens, Greece

Today we didn’t take an excursion through the cruise but one on our own through a great recommendation from Lauren and Henry, thanks! We took a public bus for 4 euros a piece both ways called X80 (take it if you go). It dropped us just at the bottom of the main street leading to the Acropolis. We walked to the top around 9:00a.m and made it to the top before it got too hot. The views were amazing and so was being in the presence of the Parthenon. Since the town has taken a hit economically, we didn’t spend much time doing anything and instead took the bus directly back to the ship.  We spent the rest of the day by the pool.

The Parthenon is a temple on the Athenian Acropolis, which was dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Its construction began in 447 BC when the Athenian Empire was at the height of its power. It was completed in 438 BC.
