Pop's 91st Birthday

September 17, 2015 was Pop's 91st birthday! Since his big day was during the week, Richard, Cole, Ashley, and I decided to take Pop to The Varsity on Saturday for lunch. He was so thrilled to get out of the house and enjoy time with family. I can't imagine what it would be like to be 91, but I'm sure it's no easy task at hand. 

We all ordered out burgers, hot dogs and fries and ended our lunch with some peach pies, yummm!

Happy 29th Birthday, Richard!

My sweet husband has just entered his last year of his twenties #HoldingOn

Since his birthday was on a Monday this year, we did a family dinner with Leslie and John on Saturday night at Table & Main. It's a wonderful southern restaurant in the heart of downtown Roswell. That night I finally opened our bottle of rose that Leslie had shipped from the winery from our Tuscan wine tasting this past summer. Before we left for dinner, Rich opened his presents and loved seeing his cookie cake- the only kind of cake that he loves. 

Something I love about Table & Main is that they give you a classic piece of literature to write in about your experience that night. 

Since Leslie paid for dinner, she wrote on page (29) for Richard's 29th birthday and ended it with a "War Eagle" for the upcoming season opener. 

However, Richard's birthday weekend ended up being two weekends. The following weekend, Labor Day, we went out to dinner with Cole and Ashley for a new dinner experience at Little Alley Steak, which is also located in Roswell.

I would high recommend trying it out. The steaks were AMAZING and the ambiance was wonderful.

The next day we had Richard's side of the family over for GAMEDAY! Here is the south, gameday/ season opener for college football is like nothing else. All day you will see people out in the college colors, grocery stores are packed, and flags flying on houses and cars.

Thankfully both teams won and we all had a fabulous night cooking out on the grill :)

Back to school/ Work!

Yay! I have successfully completed the first week back to school for the 2015-2016 year! Being a middle school teacher has its extreme highs and lows throughout the school year, but I have really high hopes for this one! On drop-in day last Friday, I met all my 67 students- all who seemed to love school and had such great energy. ( I know what you're thinking... that is a really small number when talking about 5 academic classes, but being a teacher at a private school has perks!) Nevertheless, the first week has come to an end, and I feel great about the school year. My students are wonderful, my co-workers (friends) are one of the main reasons why I love my job, and the staff is so supportive and wonderful. Even though I have only been a teacher for 5 years now- I hope to keep this positive energy on those not so great days. Hopefully all my friends who are teachers and my sweet sister who is starting her first year as a lead teacher at Lovett, loves it this year too!

Today, our little Caroline graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with honors (so smart)!

3 Years Married!

Today marks 3 young years of being married to my very best friend, Richard! Since I've been on summer break I have to admit I've been watching a lot of mindless TV in the morning- mainly the Today Show. They have been making a point about being your happiest and writing down 3 positive things a day to make you feel better. I though it was an awesome idea and wanted to apply it to today's post since this blog is about happy things- an escape from every day life. I also thought it would be an awesome way to look back and see what Richard and I were happy about in our marriage and how much things may change from year to year.  

* We love sitting on our back patio at dusk during the summer time during the work week when no one else it out, going for long walks by the river with Addie, eating Mexican EVERY Friday night, lazy nights on the sofa as the "3" of us watch TV, sleeping in on Saturdays, Sunday morning church followed by brunch, decorating our home, trying new restaurants, traveling the world (Europe) together, doing any type of yard work, hosting dinners at our home, eating al fresco at any restaurant- especially if there's a view, going to Auburn football games, being with our best friends and family, but most of all just being with each other!

Happy Birthday 239th birthday America and a BIG thank you to all those who serve and protect us every day!

This July 4th, 2015 was a lot of fun since Richard has been working a TON and really haven't seen him too much, but thankfully he had the Friday before the Fourth off!  That Friday we went out to lunch with Cole and Ashley to the General Muir- been there 4 times and still love it!

4:30 a.m. was an early start to Saturday morning, but Richard, Caroline and I woke up and headed to the '15 AJC Peachtree Road Race. This was Caroline's first time running, but it was very different to last years race. Richard was once again an early starter in the race, but Caroline and I started the same time. The second they released our group it began to pour and actually had a few flashes of lighting, but it continued to pour the entire time as we ran and jumped over "rivers" flowing down the street. It was a little more difficult but still fun.

Richard and I hosted this years festivities- we just LOVE having people to our house! Everyone arrived around 6:00 p.m. but Leslie came over two hours earlier to help teach me how to make fried chicken! It is so good- it's like dessert.

The next day Brook and Adam had a few people over to their home to celebrate Duke's 1st birthday! It was a sweet celebration and so much fun watching Brook and Adam as parents.
