New England Days 3- 4: Travel day to Salem, Massachusetts

Day 3 Cont'd:
Once we left Maine in our rearview window, Ashley wanted to stop in New Hampshire as Vermont wasn't possible this trip.  So we drove down Route 1 to stop and eat lunch in Hampton, NH at Sea Ketch. We had views of the beach, but it was so cold and windy that there wasn't anyone out that day.

Once we got back on the road, Ashley and I made a last minute decision to have two detours on our way to Salem.  The first stop was Gloucester, Massachusetts, which is known for its fishing industry.  However, it was so cold that day- about 50 degrees for early June that we didn't stay too long at any given place.

Our last stop was Manchester By the Sea... this little town was the quintessential New England town due to the cold, gloomy, grey skies.

After our two detours, we made our way to Salem and checked into our hotel at Salem Waterfront hotel that late afternoon. This was the perfect spot as it was right on the water and was close to everything we were doing over the next 24 hours. That night we had dinner at Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall, which is where Alexander Graham Bell made his first long distance phone call in 1877 to the Boston Globe newspaper- only 21 miles apart.  The food was delicious and warmed us up for our next activity-Hocus Pocus Tour. Even though it rained the entire tour, it was the perfect combination of witch history, haunted/ spooky places, and an unbelievable ending at the Salem Witch Trial Memorial.  That night we went back to our hotel and finished with a few drinks and the rest of our donuts from the Holy Donut.

Day 4:
We woke up early and has a perfect breakfast at the The Ugly Mug Diner.  We then walked downtown and made our way to the The House of The Seven Gables, which is where the Nathaniel Hawthorne got his inspiration to write the novel.

After the fabulous tour of the the House of the Seven Gables, we had lunch at The Lobster Shanty to have another lobster roll.  Then we made three last stops to see Max and Dani's house, Allison's house, and Town Hall before driving into Boston.

Day 4 Con't:
We drove into Boston, dropped off our rental car, check into our hotel, The Boxer Hotel, and then took an Uber out to Harpoon Brewery, which was so much fun. We fell in LOVE with their beer, ate delicious pretzels, and took a tour of the brewery.  After apps and drinks, we then walked to dinner at Neptune Oyster. We had so many recommendations that said to eat there but the odds were slim as it only has a few tables and hours worth of wait. However, we were super lucky to only have a 15 minute wait before we had the BEST oysters.
