Santorini, Greece

Early this morning we were tendered at the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece. After we took our little boat to the pier, we had three options to get to the top since the city is cliff side. 1-cable car, 2- ride donkeys, or 3- walk 800 steps on the same path that the donkeys take, which was not well advised. We obviously took the cable car for five euros a piece.

Once we reached the top, I never imaged the beauty of the white washed buildings and how each home or store had its own door color, which offered a great photo experience since we got to the top and many of the stores were not open yet.

{Making our way through town by eating and drinking}

Since we got to town early and didn't have any major plans for the day, we decided to stop at different restaurants- one for the view and two to try as many different drinks and Greek food. Our first place was a cute little breakfast spot that was called Diverso where we had fresh OJ, pancakes that were topped with fried eggs, and the most delicious bacon I have ever had (surprising since I don't like bacon). The second stop was a place with spectacular views where Richard had the local beer and I had their wonderful red wine sangria.

 Our last stop of the day was at a restaurant called 1500 BC that I have heard great things about from a couple different people. For lunch we had a fabulous four course meal that exceeded all of our local dining experiences. Fresh bread with the most delicious sundried tomatoes with a dash of pesto for a spread, a welcoming salad followed by an original Santorini salad, and then the main course, which for me was smoked salmon and for Richard was large Aegean Sea shrimp with an interesting squid ink sauce on the side. Lastly, we ended our lunch (felt like a five-star dinner in Atlanta) with a dessert wine that they gave us for free.

  At the end of the day, we continued to walk the town and take in the culture, but Richard ended our special day by taking me into a beautiful jewelry store where he bought me a gorgeous ring that has a beautiful green prehnite stone that was hand made by a local lady (so sweet). We took our cable car back and ended the day with great memories.
